A1: Nature Around Me
I live in a small town. There is a forest and a river near my house. The river is clean and cold.
In the forest there are tall trees and green grass. There are birds, squirrels and hedgehogs too.
In summer I like walking in the forest with my dog. We can see flowers and mushrooms.
I don't throw rubbish in the forest. I take it home.
Nature is beautiful. I love nature!

A2: Our Clean-Up Day
Last Saturday my class took part in a clean-up day. We went to the park next to our school with bags and gloves.
There was a lot of rubbish under the trees and near the pond: plastic bottles, bags and even an old tyre. We worked for three hours and filled more than thirty bags.
While we were cleaning the pond, we saw two ducks. Our teacher said that plastic is very dangerous for birds and fish because they sometimes eat it.
In the end the park looked much cleaner and more beautiful. I was tired, but I felt really proud of our class.
Now my friends and I are going to plant some trees there in spring. We also want to ask the town council to put new bins in the park.

B1: Why We Should Protect Nature
Nature gives us everything we need to live: clean air, fresh water, food and materials for our homes. However, people have changed the planet more in the last two hundred years than in the whole of history before that.
Forests, which produce oxygen and are home to millions of species, are being cut down for farmland and timber. Rivers and seas are polluted by factories and plastic waste. As a result, many animals and plants have become endangered, and some have already disappeared forever.
Fortunately, there are many ways to protect nature. In Russia there are dozens of nature reserves, where hunting and building are forbidden. The oldest of them, the Barguzin Nature Reserve, was created near Lake Baikal in 1916 to save the sable, which had almost disappeared from the area.
Ordinary people can also help. If everyone sorts their rubbish, saves water and uses fewer plastic bags, the result will be noticeable.
I have taken part in several tree-planting days, and I have noticed that once you plant a tree, you start to see nature differently. You feel responsible for it. Every time I walk past 'my' little birch, I check how much it has grown.

B2: Who Really Needs Saving?
It is often said that we must 'save the planet', but this phrase is somewhat misleading. The Earth has survived ice ages and asteroid impacts, and it will doubtless outlive humanity. What is really at stake is not the planet itself but the delicate balance of ecosystems on which our own survival depends.
For most of history, people regarded nature as an inexhaustible resource to be conquered. Forests were cleared, rivers were dammed and wild animals were hunted with little thought for the consequences. Only in the twentieth century, as species began to vanish at an alarming rate, did the idea of conservation gain widespread support.
Considerable progress has since been made. Protected areas now cover a significant share of the world's land, and several species once on the brink of extinction have recovered. Yet these successes are fragile. Climate change, pollution and the loss of natural habitats continue to threaten wildlife on every continent.
Some argue that the solution lies entirely with governments and large corporations, and there is some truth in this: individual efforts cannot replace sensible laws. However, I am convinced that personal choices matter too, not so much because of their direct impact as because they shape public attitudes. Had millions of ordinary people not started demanding change, few governments would ever have taken the environment seriously.
Ultimately, protecting nature is not an act of charity but an act of self-preservation. The sooner we accept that we are part of nature rather than its masters, the better our chances of leaving a liveable world to the next generation.
